There are many who do not have the resources to attend Ivy League institutions or luminary art schools, yet have equal shares of talent, technical ability, dedication, and potential to become noteworthy and reputable members of society. These disenfranchised artists and change agents are often not conditioned to the world and language of academia or elitists, and so are not provided as many opportunities as are those who are fostered in that privilege, or familiar with said language. Gaps in opportunity are evident as pertains to resources, networking channels, and community development.
En Gedi LLC members believe that the selection of persons to participate in artistic, academic or otherwise noteworthy positions is biased and tooled to fill quotas. Socio-economic status, gender, and ethnicity especially intrude on the livelihoods of those ignored by these selection processes. Moreover, art programs that would work to aid certain underserved yet deserving artists are systematically undercut and underfunded. En Gedi LLC is a growing entity that works to continue to serve and promote those artists or change agents who are often overlooked in these recruitment and application processes. |
Human subjectivity and societal bias often pit one side, party or belief against another. This disparity results in the aforementioned: the exclusion of some for the sake of inclusion of another. En Gedi LLC exists to work against, and hopefully-perhaps quixotically-remove this mode of thinking and action. |
